Overview
Even being a cliche, I've been interested in nature and wildlife since I was little. I always spent weekends and summers in nature, hiking, camping and observing wildlife. All of it made me realize how important it was to protect our environment and its species, and since then I’ve been studying and trying hard to take my part in conservation. As a result, after finishing my veterinary degree, I decided to take part in the Wildlife Population Health internship, in order to expand my knowledge and learn more about wildlife populations, diseases and research.
Background
During my bachelor studies, I took part in the Bojos por la Natura program from Fundació Catalunya la Pedrera, where different seminars and practical workshops were conducted, all related to natural sciences. Afterwards, I started Veterinary Science in the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and graduated in 2024. During the degree, I was always interested in wildlife health and conservation, so I became part of AVAFES Barcelona (an association for the assistance to exotic and wild fauna). I also enrolled in the Diseases of Marine Mammals UAB Summer School, that focused on the study of pinnipeds and cetacean diseases. In the 2nd semester of the 4th year, I performed an internship in the wildlife rehabilitation center of Torreferrussa, taking part in the daily management, treatment, nutrition and recovery. Afterwards, I decided to perform a two week volunteer work in the GREFA rehabilitation center, to expand my knowledge and learn more about wildlife medicine. I also performed in this same center my end-of-degree internship, taking part in all the stages that involve the recovery of wildlife.
