Overview
I graduated in Veterinary Science at University of Santiago de Compostela in 2021. My deep interest in wildlife and conservation led me to focus much of my studies in these areas.
Background
I completed internships and practical experiences at several rescue centers and conservation projects in Spain, including the Group for Rehabilitation of the Native Fauna and its Habitat (GREFA), the Foundation for Research in Ethology and Biodiversity (FIEB), and the Tafira Wildlife Rescue Centre. I also gained international experience in Brazil at São Paulo State University “Julio de Mesquita Filho” (UNESP) and in Portugal at the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Investigation Center (RIAS) .
Along this path, I received a collaboration grant with the Veterinary Pathological Group at my university, which allowed me to explore research methodologies in conservation by working on a project studying the critically endangered freshwater mussel, Margaritifera auricularia. This experience enabled me to develop new skills and deepened my appreciation for the holistic and community-oriented perspectives that research can provide.
In pursuit of my growing passion for conservation, I had the opportunity to work for two years as a research assistant and clinic veterinarian at a wildlife rescue center in Costa Rica. There, I was able to enhance my abilities performing necropsies, collecting samples for research purposes, and collaborating on several studies focused on neotropical mammals.
